It has been my greatest pleasure to serve the AEHC organization as President the past two years. I will greatly miss you, but I will still see you at meetings of the organization. This is the way we all grow and learn by sharing with each other. I know the next years will be great and if there is any way that I can help you in your county work, please do not hesitate to call on me.

AEHC Annual Meeting

It’s history now, the 2004 AEHC Annual Meeting. From all reports, this was one of our best meeting ever! We had 630 registrations before the meeting began and by the time we counted all the vendors, helpers, and instructors for classes the number was well over 700. Thanks for all that you did to make it successful from the counties, without you it would be nothing. The cultural Arts Exhibit was great and the table decorations were just outstanding, what a nice door prize almost 75 people carried home from the table decorations. Delegates were very complimentary of the classes and the speakers this year. What can we do to top it next year? Your suggestions for speakers, instructors and general improvements will be appreciated by the planning committee. The silent auction was new this year and we made over $2000 , which will go into the state treasurer and half of it is to be used for seed money for the 2006 National Volunteer Outreach Network Conference which will be in Hot Springs. For some of the newer people in EHC, this organization is a 7 state group that was organized for networking and providing educational and friendship experiences.

New AEHC Officers

Here is a picture of the new Officers of our organization. These officers were installed in an impressive ceremony conducted by past president Francis Royston on Thursday morning. Oops, we made a mistake, we failed to install Debbie Moreland as the new parliamentarian, but she will do the job anyway. The names of all of the new officers and the entire slate of committee members will be on our web site www.arextensionhomemakers.org after July 1.

Left to right: President-Elect, Elaine Stoll, Lawrence County, Vice President Ann Bowers, Greene County, Secretary Beverly Harlow, Cleveland County, and Treasurer Sue Farris, Franklin County.

It’s Time to Send in Your Reports

Look in the AEHC Handbook or on the web site and remind your council president and agent to send in Form G-9 to Sue Farris, the new AEHC Treasurer. Membership dues are $2.00 per member, and $2.00 per member at large and $5.00 per club in the county. The council treasurer should send one check for the membership and the club dues. Sue Farris Address is:505 W. River Street, Ozark, Arkansas,72949. All EH clubs should send G-2 and G-3 to the county office only. Send G-4 and G-5 to Betty F. Oliver at the State Extension office, 2301 South University, P.O. Box 391, Little Rock, Arkansas 72203. Your FCS agent has already gotten this information in an email from Betty’s office. Betty would also appreciate a copy of G-9 sent to her so that she can keep up with the number of volunteer hours that you reported for the year as well as your membership.

Membership Campaign Almost Over

The figures that you report on G-9 will be compared to your last year’s report to determine the winner of the county and district membership campaign. These will be awarded at the District President meetings in October.

Name Tag Orders

If you would like to have a name tag which is in the shape of Arkansas with your name on it, you should contact your county council president. She in turn should collect all orders from your county and send one check with the forms for each name tag to your District Director. The district directors are listed with addresses in the handbook. The form to submit names from the county is G-7 in the handbook. The name tags are $5.50.

New Flags at the State Meeting

The new county flags were beautiful as they graced the stage during the entire meeting. Thanks to a hard worker in Crawford county-Cheryl Steward for all of the work on the flags and to the counties for the beautiful logos that were placed on the flags. Thanks to Montie Ray and his friend Bob Woodsmall for constructing all 75 wooden stands and flag poles for the flags. Wasn’t it nice to see more of our husbands actively participating in the meeting, Montie and Bob did such a great job with this project and we are appreciative of all of the hard work on the new flags. The flag stands and poles will not have to be carried each year back to the counties, we have made arrangements to store them and bring them from the State Extension Warehouse to the meetings.

Why Not be a State Officer?

Next June we will be electing new district directors. If you have been a county officer, why not consider running for the district director job? This is one of the most interesting jobs on the Executive Committee.

District President’s Days

Mark your calendar Presidents and Vice Presidents of county councils. The district meeting will be conducted in October. The district and county membership awards will be given out at this meeting. The dates are as follows: Ozark District October 19, Delta District October 21 and Ouachita District October 26. The district directors and past president are responsible for the program and setting the locations. If you have suggestions, please contact your district director, past state president or Betty F. Oliver.
