National Volunteer Outreach NetworkThe purposes of the National Volunteer Outreach Network (NVON) are: 1. To bring together organizations who are members of Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) to promote friendship and understanding for better communication in the United States and the world; 2. To promote the well-being of the individual and the family; 3. To bring about a better understanding of the relationship of the home, community, state, nation, and the world. 4. To speak for and further the interests of the member organizations engaged in service to families and communities, and; 5. To coordinate activities and disseminate information relevant to the ACWW and Country Women’s Council USA (CWC). 6. Associate members’ annual fee is $5.00 which includes mailings from NVON. The member organizations, representing 118,000 members, are Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council, Inc., Illinois Association for Home and Community Education, Indiana Extension Homemakers Association, Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association, South Carolina Family Community Leaders, West Virginia Extension Homemakers, and Wisconsin Association for Home and Community Education. Associated Country Women of the WorldThe Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW), which is the largest international organization of rural women and homemakers, acts to reduce poverty through self-help schemes. Membership consists of over 500 women’s societies in more than 70 countries, with over 9 million members being represented. The aims of ACWW are to: (1) Raise the standards of living of women and their families all over the world through community development projects, education, and training, (2) promote international goodwill, friendship, and understanding among women everywhere, (3) work together for the relief of poverty, (4) promote education, relief of sickness, and the protection and preservation of health, and (5) act as a forum on international affairs for rural women, speaking for them with an informed voice in the Councils of the world. ACWW holds a World Conference (Triennial Conference) every three years. Each society may be represented and individual members can attend. Projects and activities are “Pennies for Friendship,” “Letter Friends,” exchange programs; international visitors; participation in specialized agencies of the United Nations; and contributions to scholarship and trust funds. ACWW is actively involved in the promotion of Nutrition, Health, Citizenship, Equality, and Environment. Country Women’s CouncilThe Country Women’s Council (CWC) U.S.A. is a liaison council composed of ACWW Member Societies in the U.S.A. It meets annually to promote the work of ACWW. The purpose of CWC is to meet for discussion and consultation on matters pertaining to ACWW and to stimulate interest in ACWW among country women and homemakers. Through CWC the U.S.A. Societies work together informally for ACWW. CWC promotes individuals of its Member Societies to become Contributing Members of ACWW. Contributing membership dues are $67 for three years. Both memberships receive the CWC Newsletter (tri-annually) and The ACWW Countrywoman (quarterly). National organizations that are Society Members of CWC are National Farm Bureau Women, National Master Farm Homemakers Guild, Association for Family and Community Education, Inc., National Volunteer Outreach Network, and The Women’s National Farm and Garden Association, Inc. Annual meetings are held in different states by invitation. The Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council is a Constituent Society Member of ACWW. CWC Chair is Kay Engelhart, Saginaw, Michigan
